@12:50 PM
The priestess has just died.
Throngs of people from my tribe ran amok, and panic swept in the air. How did she die? I kept repeating the question in my head, staring at the blood in my hands while a ceaseless flurry of activity happened around me. How? One moment she was with me and Argol on a quest, and in the next she was dead.
A box was rudely placed in front of me. An ancient, rusted thing, big enough to fit a chicken. There our priestess was, her severed head propped up on a stick, with her eyes rolling back. I looked away quickly. Argol gently sighed, but he roughly pulled the stick out, place it in my trembling palms and gripped his hand around mine.
"You have to do this now."
I nodded. But the gap in my memory gnawed at me.
The only thing I wanted to do was to get this over and done with, so I shakily stood back on my feet. As a sign of respect, I raised the priestess' head high, but really, I just wanted to be as far as possible from it. Voices started to diminish and we started to see the back of peoples' heads as they bowed down solemnly.
The procession was to traverse the ridge while the tribesmen watched from the valleys. Two bannermen and a drummer rallied to my side. Night was starting to befall us, and the barren ground was turning copper red. A sight to behold, on any other ordinary day when blurry thoughts weren't clouding my mind and eyes.
Standing behind us, Argol started shouting an incoherent mass of words. Our cue to walk.
But I ran. I ran and I jumped across the potholes that littered the ridge, lifting the stick as high as I could. I felt the priestess' hair whip across my forearm, but I didn't care. The tribesmen just lowered their heads even further, as if guilty to witness their most revered person in such a gruesome state. I ran to get this over and done with, but a foreign feeling of conceit started to bubble up from within me. Here I was, holding up the head of who used to be the most powerful lady in the tribe. It was a sickening feeling.
Yeah so that was another episode of my weird dreams.
